SustainMobility Summit 2024
Reducing global climate risk and promoting a more sustainable mobility ecosystem
EVENT BACKGROUND
The IEEE SA Impact Assessment Framework for Sustainable Mobility "SustainMobility" Systems Industry Connections (IC) program, running from January 2024 to December 2025, promotes innovation through research and development, enhancing market competitiveness and contributing to global sustainability goals. By adopting innovative practices such as the "15-minute city" concept, organizations can reduce car dependency and promote urban well-being. As part of IEEE SA's Mobility focus, this event engaged diverse stakeholders to help ensure transportation systems meet community needs while aligning efforts with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to foster a sustainable and equitable future.

AGENDA
The event kicked off with a warm welcome and introduction. The initial session dove into the current status of the Impact Assessment Framework for Sustainable Mobility Systems program, beginning with an overview of the whitepaper. Attendees gained insight into the application process and methodology of the program, followed by a presentation of findings, prototypes for 2025, and use cases.
Subsequently, the focus shifted to mapping out a roadmap towards standards and regulatory compliance. This phase included engaging brainstorming sessions and discussions aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation on the way to an assessment framework. Participants also received an invitation and briefing on the UN Science Summit, which started at 7:00 PM ET, setting the stage for aligning efforts on a global scale.
The event concluded with a comprehensive wrap-up session, where key takeaways were summarized, and the next steps were outlined to ensure continued momentum and progress.

ABOUT IEEE "SUSTAINMOBILITY"
The IEEE "SustainMobility" activity advocates for collective ecosystem action to combat climate change in the transportation sector. This initiative emphasizes reducing global CO2 emissions and calls for a shift from individual company objectives to ecosystem-wide cooperation. By aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we aim to mitigate climate risks through a holistic impact assessment framework for sustainable mobility systems.
Our framework standardizes the evaluation of sustainability initiatives, prioritizes use cases, and fosters cross-ecosystem collaboration. By focusing on SDGs related to affordable transport systems, urban air pollution, road safety, and clean fuel access, we seek to reduce global climate risk and promote a more sustainable mobility ecosystem.
