MIND THE GAPS WEBINAR
Are We Ready to Orchestrate Mixed Traffic of Autonomous and Human-Driven Vehicles?
Tuesday, 28 October 2025
09:30 AM – 11:00 AM ET | 15:30 – 17:00 CET
The shift to complete autonomy of vehicles will be gradual, not instantaneous. For the foreseeable future, mobility systems will face the reality of mixed traffic, where automated and human-driven vehicles must coexist. Managing this coexistence demands innovative traffic orchestration that tackles technical, cultural, and ethical challenges.
This webinar explores how cities, operators, and technology developers can balance human decision-making with algorithmic control to help ensure safety, efficiency, and trust. Drawing on research and large-scale case studies, it will show how real-world factors (such as megacity congestion, cultural driving patterns, and infrastructure gaps) shape the path to automation.
Participants will learn advanced traffic and fleet management concepts, including dynamic demand balancing, priority-based coordination, and orchestration frameworks that harmonize human and machine behavior.
Finally, the discussion will look at the broader ecosystem: the role of road operators and city authorities, the technical capabilities needed for diverse fleets, and how AI-driven systems can collaborate with human road users in real time.
