WEBINAR
Global Assessment Framework for Medical Mobile Apps
RECORDED ON 04 MARCH 2026
There are more than 55,000 mobile medical applications available on public app stores that claim to treat or manage disease or provide clinical decision support. Yet, few—if any—are robustly vetted, leaving patients and clinicians without reliable assurance of their safety, efficacy, or ethical design. Globally, regulators struggle to keep pace with the rapid innovation in mobile medical apps, resulting in significant gaps in oversight and ongoing evaluation of these emerging digital therapeutics.
In response to this unmet global need, an international, multidisciplinary group of 35 expert volunteers from 10 countries has developed the IEEE Global Mobile Medical App Assessment and Registry. This initiative provides a comprehensive and standardized framework for evaluating mobile medical apps across clinical efficacy, technical soundness, and ethics by design, offering a trusted resource for regulators, clinicians, and healthcare organizations worldwide.
