OVERVIEW

This webinar will introduce the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) approach to standardization and highlight ongoing standards-related projects in the mobility space. In addition, attendees will learn how they can get involved at both an individual and organizational level. Attendees will also benefit from a Q&A session following the presentations. 

About IEEE SA and Mobility Standards Development

Historically, there have been different approaches to developing standards. Today, most standards are developed through Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) like IEEE SA. IEEE SA develops standards across a wide range of technologies including Telecom and Connectivity. For example, IEEE communication standards are implemented in devices such as smartphones and internet equipment used by network operators and service providers. 

Largely driven by developments in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), digital transformation continues to have a significant impact on society and industry. In the automotive industry, for example, cars are increasingly connected and automated. Autonomous vehicles are designed as ICT-based cognitive systems. These architectures are computer-based and their features are software-defined.

IEEE SA working groups are comprised of technologists and thought leaders who are not only leading the development of communication standards but have also helped shape the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and software engineering industries. Their collective competencies are key to working towards trustworthy autonomous vehicles.
