THIS SESSION WILL FOCUS ON THE CHALLENGES AND THE EFFORTS THAT ARE BEING TAKEN BY THE IEEE COMMUNITY IN DIFFERENT WORKSTREAMS:
Rural Communications - Will focus on presenting the challenges and opportunities of Rural Communications and connectivity and their impact on improving quality of lives of the people in the rural areas. The goal of the program is to contribute towards the global goal of digital inclusion, by developing solutions for rural and remote areas using suitable technologies.
Consumer Telemedicine/Telehealth - Extending the Reach and Depth of Health Care Services through Telehealth. The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally impacted several business ecosystems globally. Virtual sessions are used for telework, online learning telehealth, etc. for continuity of services. Health care is among the ecosystems that are currently strained and telehealth services provide access to connected health care services while maintaining social distancing and minimizing the risk of transmission. Telehealth also extends the continuum of care to rural communities with adequate broadband telecommunications access. This presentation addresses telehealth within the health care ecosystem, access to connected care, enablers, and the new IEEE SS Telehealth Industry Connections activity.
Industrial - Information Centric Networking - The Future of Networking - Information Centric Networking (ICN) is a new paradigm of data exchange over Networks. ICN provides an alternate approach to traditional host-to-host communication approach. It provides native support for mobility, security & privacy, latency and resource utilization. However, there are many challenges with ICN as well… In this talk, we will discuss some of the potential challenges with ICN, the prevailing architectures for ICN and also the use cases that might potentially benefit with the adoption of ICN.
