ENGINEERING COLLECTIVE WISDOM: THE VALUE OF ETHICALLY ALIGNED IT STANDARDS
RECORDED 25 AUGUST 2021
There has been a rapid movement worldwide to gain the benefits of AI and automated IT development, both for economic and for humanitarian purposes. But the future of our world and our generational legacy will depend on the growth of our collective wisdom and the conscious, thoughtful and ethical way that we design, develop and govern these systems, in order to mitigate the risk of existential harm that such powerful technologies may introduce.
Organizations and individuals that embrace this challenge can now utilize a new global standard by the IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology for humanity. IEEE 7000TM promotes ‘Value Based Engineering’, a form of ‘ethics by design’. This provides a way to incorporate ethics and human values into the design of IT and AI systems which can be integrated into an organizations’ preferred system development, risk and project management methodologies.
Why Join
Artificial Intelligence Systems and emerging technologies that automate decision making, utilise human data and directly affect our values demand unique and proactive methodologies to avoid harm and build trust. Come and learn how the new IEEE 7000TM Model Process for Addressing Ethical Concerns During System Design standard is providing a ground breaking example of how any organisation can quickly identify, assess, and address key stakeholder values at the front end of the design phase while still honouring traditional systems development methodologies.
